The Large Loss Scoping Service from Insurers World
We guarantee that our SOS Service Technician contacts both the adjuster and the insured within 24 hours of receiving the assignment. Our SOS Service Technician will be sure to take inventory of 100% of the contents. These technicians have undergone extensive training, so they are well prepared to document any and all value factors. They also pay special attention to quantity, quality and condition of contents. This record keeping, using digital images and voice recordings, is especially important for accurate scope of loss and indemnity. All of the information from the SOS Service Technician's fieldwork is extremely important in our estimating process. This data is used by Insurers World to perform LKQ (Like Kind and Quality) research. This LKQ research and data from the fieldwork regarding each item is used to establish a replacement cost.
High Value Items: The SOS team takes special care in the handling of high value items. During
discussions with the insured, they focus on identifying high value items in an attempt to establish the history of an item, as well as its financial value. Unique and one of a kind items requiring special attention are expertly handled to ensure that repairs can be made or an accurate replacement cost established. In many instances the SOS team identifies items of sentimental or monetary value while sifting through debris.
Freezing the Loss: The SOS technician takes pictures, notes, and verbal recordings to capture details of the site. This is a great way to maintain information about the condition of the site and contents at the time of the loss. This procedure results in a true representation of the contents of the home, which also gives the homeowner peace of mind and the carrier the confidence that they are honoring their obligation to replace what is owed.

The Services on Site Process:
1. Within 24 hours of receiving the assignment, an SOS technician contacts the company field adjuster to get as many details as possible. The technician also contacts the insured to set up a convenient time for loss inspection.
2. The SOS technician goes to the site with:
- Authorization to enter forms which have been signed by the policy holder. These give the SOS team authority to enter the home.
- A Digital Voice Recorder: This enables the team to obtain accurate, detailed descriptions of the damaged contents.
- A Digital Camera: To capture photos of unique, high value items that enable the IW evaluation team to develop an accurate replacement cost.
3. A general walk-through is completed with the adjuster and the policyholder, allowing the team to pay particular attention to items of interest and establish a rapport with the policyholder.
4. Any items that have been removed from the site are inspected and photographed in order to "freeze" the loss.
5. During the complete and thorough walkthrough, all personal property is identified and recorded. A complete and total inventory is developed, including anything from large furniture to dry goods in the cabinets.
6. Photographs will be taken of any unidentifiable debris, and the insured will be asked to provide information about each item.
7. The SOS team works closely with the policyholder to collect supporting documentation, including family photos, receipts, and appraisals.
8. The digital images and the voice recordings are then downloaded and saved onto computer discs. One copy of the information is provided to the adjuster, while another is stored at an AT&T hardened co-location facility. A copy of the transcribed inventory is also sent to the adjuster and policyholder for their review.
