Great American Bake Sale
Insurers World Philanthropy - October 2009
After an extremely successful summer bake sale, Insurers World decided to hold a fall bake sale in order to contribute to Share Our Strength’s Great American Bake Sale, a national organization dedicated to feeding undernourished children in local communities. Employees baked a wide variety of delicious autumn treats, including pies, cookies, cakes, and more. The bake sale was open during lunch hours and many employees supported the cause by donating and purchasing goodies. With the help of Insurers World’s generous offer to match employee donations, a grand total of $600 was raised for Share Our Strength, ultimately providing children with a greater sense of hope and necessary resources during the upcoming months.
Share Our Strength’s website shows the following as a few ways donations can be put to use:
- $25 can cover the cost of a 4 dish and utensil set to serve children free afterschool meals.
- $100 can buy a food carry bag to enable organizations to deliver hot and cold meals to children.
- $500 can cover the cost for an organization to buy a new deli slicer to prepare sandwiches for 150 children.
- $1000 can help an organization pay for staff person to serve children meals at a meal site in the summer.
