Los Angeles Area Suffers from Extreme Wildfires Within the Past Week
According to earthtimes.org, the Los Angeles area and its residents are currently facing the aftermath brought on by a recent string of invasive wildfires. Described as “the worst wildfires of the year so far,” this natural disaster proved to wreak havoc on thousands of homes, thus forcing thousands of residents to seek shelter elsewhere. As stated by earthtimes.org, “the largest fire burned its way through 4,400 acres near the hamlet of Tehachapi some 180 kilometers north of Los Angeles.” The flames were so widespread that “Arnold Schwarzenegger declared a state of emergency in the surrounding Kern County.”
It has also been stated that “the fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in the remote mountainous territory and 250 firefighters were battling the blaze Wednesday morning.” As stated by Kern County Fire Department spokesman Anthony Romero, “the wind has been the real factor out here,” which has ultimately made it even more difficult to extinguish the flames. Finally, it has been reported by news.yahoo.ocm that “the wildfire in the Antelope Valley has burned at least three buildings, and homes in Leona Valley and Anaverde are still evacuated Friday morning” and that “Los Angeles County fire Inspector Matt Levesque says another 1,00 homes in Rancho Vista that were evacuated Thursday are now considered safe after the fire burned nearly to their doors but was stopped at an aqueduct.”
